Las Palmas continued with the form which lead them to the play offs in the 2021/22 season.
With a great start to the 2022/23 season which began with a solid draw against Real Zaragoza followed by an emphatic victory away to Malaga, where we had not won in the past 4 visits.
New signings Alvaro Jimenez, Marc Cardona and Marvin Park all impressed by scoring their first goals for UDLP. With Park's goal coming within less than 7 minutes of his debut, who has joined on loan from Real Madrid Castilla. Alvaro Jimenez looks to be a great asset who brings lots of skill with him, on loan from La Liga side Cádiz CF. Marc Cardona scored an excellent goal on his second start for the canarians, joining in the summer on a free transfer with his last club being La Liga side CA Osasuna.
The attack still has new additions with the two experiencer attackers in Vitolo and Sandro, with both players starting their careers in Las Palmas. Both have had very successful careers with Sandro playing for clubs like Barcelona and Everton. Vitolo has experienced success in both Sevilla and Atletico Madrid since leaving Las Palmas in 2013.
The experienced Sidnei has also joined the club, looking very solid in his first two appearances. The centre back boasting a wealth of experience in Spain and also globally.
The club will look to experienced Jonathan Viera to provide goals and assists in the coming season as Las Palmas look to gain promotion to the La Liga, a feat in which we nearly achieved last season. Alberto Moleiro will be expected to support Viera after breaking through in the 21/22 season, his quality was on display against Malaga where he played an excellent game in Viera's absence.
For Las Palmas the desire is promotion, automatically or via the play offs, with the first two games yielding 4 points, Las Palmas hope to build on the early success when they take on Andorra at the Estadio de Gran Canaria on the 29th of August.
¡Arriba d'ellos!
